Specialty Preferred Products Program - Providers

 

Specialty Drugs are used to treat long-term illnesses. Such as; Ankylosing Spondylitis, Crohn’s Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Multiple Sclerosis. These conditions require long-term monitoring and special testing during treatment. Pharmacists at CVS Specialty can work with you and your doctor to ensure proper dosing and testing to achieve maximum effectiveness of the drug while minimizing side effects. You can enroll in CVS Specialty by calling 1-800-237-2767 or you doctor can E-Prescribe. All specialty drugs are limited to a 30-day supply. See the link below.

The Funds also has a Generics First Specialty Preferred Products Program in select specialty drug classes. These classes include Cystic Fibrosis, Hepatitis C, Oncology, and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). The Funds recognizes that there may be beneficiaries for whom the preferred medications do not work, or are otherwise not clinically appropriate, and for whom the non-preferred drug is the best option. In those cases, non-preferred drugs may be requested through the prior authorization process. When a prior authorization is needed, please contact the CVS Caremark® Specialty Guideline Management Department toll-free at 1-866-814-5506 to obtain approval.  See link below for Prior Authorization form.
